Betting specialists Ladbrokes is today announcing the appointment of Arriva's chief executive David Martin as a non-executive director. (Release)
Martin, who'll be starting with Ladbrokes at the end of October, joins the company following John Jarvis' decision earlier this year to retire from the board. He has been chief executive of Arriva since 2008, overseeing its purchase by Deutsche Bahn in 2010.
Jarvis will retire from the board at the end of the group's AGM in 2014; Martin will succeed Jarvis as chairman of Ladbrokes' Remuneration Committee in due course.
Commenting on the appointment, Ladbrokes chairman Peter Erskine said:
I am delighted to welcome David to the board. His extensive management experience, notably of international operations, is particularly relevant at this stage of the group's development and will complement the existing skills of the board. I would also like to extend my thanks to John for his significant contribution to the deliberations of the Board over many years and we wish him well in his future retirement.
