How Richard Branson nearly had another big fire on his hands
Richard Branson has narrowly escaped having another lightning related fire at one of his properties. The entrepreneur tweeted a picture of a powerful fork of lightning just missing his game reserve in Ulusaba, South Africa.
“After what happened with the Great Fire on Necker, we should possibly have learnt not to have buildings on top of hills,” he wrote in a blog post titled “Frightening Lightning.”
In 2011 a fire ripped through Branson’s Necker Island home after a suspected lightning strike, causing millions of pounds worth of damage and turning Kate Winslet into a hero (she carried Branson’s 90-year-old mother from the blaze).
