Head on a high as Solow claims fourth Group One win of season
TRAINER Freddy Head is aiming Solow at October’s Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot after the in-form French challenger won yesterday’s Sussex Stakes at Goodwood.
Maxime Guyon piloted Solow to a fourth Group One triumph of the year and an eighth win in succession, although the three-year-old was only half a length quicker than runner-up Arod.
Head said: “Maxime said he was always going to win but I was a little worried. It is nerve-racking sending a horse to the races with a string of ones next to his name as you know one day it will stop.
“His next race will be the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot in October.”
Guyon added: “He is unbelievable. He’s won four Group Ones this year, it’s crazy. He is easy to ride. He doesn’t pull. For a jockey, he is the best. I think he is the best horse in my career.”
