Hammers manger Grant pledges to keep spending
WEST HAM manager Avram Grant insists his summer spending is not finished as he prepares for his first season in charge at Upton Park.
Grant has already enticed German midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger, French striker Frederic Piquionne and Mexican World Cup star Pablo Barrera to east London.
But the Israeli still hopes to land his former Portsmouth charge Tal Ben Haim and in-demand Nice forward Loic Remy – and is adamant the club are still in the market.
“The squad is not complete yet, we told the players we want to make the squad as strong as we can,” said Grant. “Even if the club are limited with money, because we are in debt, we know what we are doing and we know what we want to do.
“The owners are trying to give their best for the team so we will buy or loan a few more players. Even if I don’t like loans so much – most players here will be players for the long term.”
Ben Haim could make a loan switch after his medical revealed a groin problem, while Remy’s club have confirmed the 23-year-old is interested in joining West Ham. Grant is also in the hunt for Argentine Milton Caraglio.
