ENGLAND vs SPAIN
I NORMALLY wouldn’t touch international friendlies with a barge pole, but tomorrow’s encounter between England and Spain at Wembley is an exception. The world champions are simply in a different stratosphere to the Three Lions and they have to be backed at 10/11 with Ladbrokes.
Bookmakers initially had Spain at odds against for this encounter, but that didn’t last long and it’s no wonder seeing as they’ve won nine of their 10 matches in 2011 and an incredible 27 of their last 32 away contests. Vincente del Bosque has such an embarrassment of riches at his disposal that his team would be clear favourites even if England didn’t have selection problems.
Fabio Capello will be missing Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, Steven Gerrard, Jack Wilshere and Ashley Young, while John Terry is likely to be on the bench. The outright market win is easily the strongest bet, but I wouldn’t put anyone off the 2-0 away win at 8/1 with William Hill. Spain have won their last three games against England without conceding.
Spread bettors are advised to sell goals at 2.6 with Sporting Index because the English could well end up employing a damage limitation policy.
