Dealings over eggs and espresso
THE POWER Breakfast is no ordinary breakfast. It’s that auspicious hour before work when movers and shakers get together to thrash out a deal, make contacts – or maybe move a mountain or two.
Or that is at least that is the definition according to the Tisch Family, the US hotel dynasty, who claim credit for creating the first power breakfast back in the 1970s at the Loews Regency Hotel in New York.
The Regency’s breakfast decamped to London yesterday, bringing together some of the capital’s business and fashion elite at the Connaught Hotel. Kim Winser, the former boss of Aquascutum who has now set up her own label Winser London, chatted over smoked salmon and scrambled eggs about “power dressing” with Tracey Woodward, the retail entrepreneur who has helped oversee M&S’s expansion into beauty.
Rafael Serrano, the elusive property investor who is redeveloping London’s Admiralty Arch into a luxury hotel, talked to Jon Tisch, Robert’s son who runs Loews Hotel division – a hotel tie-up perhaps?
