Avocet Mining
David Cather has been appointed chief executive of the West Africa-focused gold mining and exploration firm. He joined the board as chief operating officer in May 2012 from European Goldfields, where he was also chief operating officer, and replaces Brett Richards. Cather has previously held senior positions at Anglo American and De Beers.
Prudential Real Estate Investors
Alfonso Munk has been appointed chief investment officer for the real estate investment management firm’s Latin America business. He was previously a managing director at Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investing, focused on activities in southern Europe.

Gerry Grimstone has been appointed chairman of the representative body for financial and professional services. Grimstone is chairman at Standard Life and an independent board member at Deloitte.

The wealth division of RBS has appointed Paul Farrow as editor, products and services communications. He joins from the Telegraph Media Group, where he was most recently personal finance editor.
Vin-X
The fine wine investment specialist has appointed Neil Abbott to the role of business development director. He joins the firm after a 25-year career in the diplomatic service, and he most recently headed up Britain’s climate security section in its Moscow embassy. Abbott will focus on opening up new overseas markets for Vin-X.

Amy Chang has joined the board of the data integration software provider. Global head of product for ads measurement at Google, she leads its team responsible for reporting on return on investment from ad monetisation.
Investec Structured Products
The structured products division of Investec Bank has three new appointments to its sales team. Bruce Kirkcaldy joins from Discretionary Fund Managers. Bobby Owen and Alex Hale respectively join from the broker services desks of AXA Investment Managers and Aviva Investors.

The asset manager has recruited three investment analysts to support Daniel Tubbs to manage a long-only UCITS fund focused on emerging market equities. Victor Benavides joins from Amiral Gestion, Charles Walsh joins from Hermes and Neville Shaw joins from Baring Asset Management.
