The Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors
The Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors has announced the appointment of its new chief professional practice adviser, Liz Sandwith, who brings over 28 years’ experience in internal audit and risk management. Liz joins from Bupa where she held a number of roles in her five years there – from head of assurance, risk and compliance to head of internal audit operations. Liz has worked for a number of private and public sector organisations, helping to develop risk management and control awareness, and has delivered training to internal auditors in the UK and internationally. She first qualified as an internal auditor in 1991. Prior to joining Bupa, she spent 13 years as head of internal audit at Channel 5. She has also worked with the Information Commissioner’s office and the Electoral Commission, as well as advising a number of local authorities on internal audit and risk management issues. Liz served as president of the Institute of Internal Auditors between 2000 and 2001.
Accuracy
International financial advisory firm Accuracy has named Stuart Appelbe as partner in the project advisory and disputes team in the London office of the firm. Stuart joins from PwC where he worked as UK head of construction disputes. Stuart advises industrial groups, law firms, owners, investors, debt providers, insurers and other third parties on transactions, disputes and any kind of decision making related to capital projects.
Colliers International
Colliers International has appointed party wall expert, Michael Cooper, to form a new neighbourly matters team within the firm’s building surveying & project management department. Michael has more than 25 years’ experience in the field and during his career has advised adjacent owners on some of the most high profile construction projects in the world, including the Shard and Walkie Talkie. Clients range from the largest developers, institutions and authorities to commercial and residential tenants. Michael is currently advising Land Securities on its 1 New Street Square scheme, Sellar Group on its Decathlon Docklands site as well as Canal River Trust and King’s College London. Other on-going instructions include several estates, including the Crown, the Phillimore and the Duchy of Cornwall. Michael joins Colliers from CBRE. Before that he spent eight years at Savills. This appointment marks the eighth senior director joining Colliers International this year.
