City executives party on Isle of Wight at Cowes
ONCE a year, the City’s social scene decamps to the small town of Cowes on the Isle of Wight for one of the hottest tickets on the sporting calendar, and last night’s City by the Sea party, a central fixture in Aberdeen Asset Management’s Cowes week, was no different, bringing together a host of athletes and Square Mile chiefs.
Double Olympic sailing gold medallist Shirley Robertson and Scottish rugby legend Gavin Hastings mingled with investment management chiefs from the likes of Cazenove, LionTrust, Kames Capital and Threadneedle at the function, overlooking the bay where thousands of boats have competed this week in one of the country’s biggest sporting events.
It was the sports stars who were at the centre of the action yesterday, with the Olympian enjoying a word with Aberdeen’s victorious Sunsail team.
Bosses spotted at City by the Sea included Brewin Dolphin chairman Jamie Matheson, Morningstar managing director Richard Romer-Lee and Aberdeen’s distribution head John Brett.
Last night’s party was one of several taking place at Cowes week, which has seen tens of thousands of sailing fans and socialites descend on the island from last Sunday to join in on the cocktail evenings and dancing, with the odd bit of sailing thrown in.
