Canada’s GDP growth at 3.9pc
Canada’s economy grew at an annualised rate of 3.9 per cent, official data revealed yesterday. Growth in the final three months of last year was revised down to a year-on-year rate of 3.1 per cent, from 3.3 per cent. Meanwhile, current account deficit narrowed in the first quarter on strong exports of energy products to the United States, Statistics Canada also said. The deficit shrank to Ca$8.9bn (£5.54bn) from Ca$10.3bn in the previous quarter, according to Statistic Canada’s revision from the previously reported Ca$11.1bn shortfall.
