Cameron tells Tories there are painful decisions ahead
DAVID Cameron will today tell the Conservative party conference that the country must take “painful decisions” to compete globally and that it is time to “do or decline”.
“Unless we act, unless we take difficult, painful decisions, unless we show determination and imagination, Britain may not be in the future what it has been in the past because the truth is this: we are in a global race today. That means an hour of reckoning for countries: it will be sink or swim, do or decline,” he will tell delegates in Birmingham.
“If we did what Labour want, and watered down our plans, the risk is that the people we borrow money from would start to question our ability and resolve to pay off our debts.”
The Prime Minister, who celebrated his 46th birthday yesterday, will also pay tribute to the value of “hard work” instilled in him by his disabled father as well as the importance of strong families and public service.
