BT boss Livingston in £1m bonus boon
BT is set to anger its unions this week with the announcement that bonuses for its top executives have tripled.
In its annual report, due on Wednesday, Britain’s biggest phone company will reveal chief executive Ian Livingston was awarded about £1m – up from £343,000 last year. He also received a £808,000 salary.
Meanwhile Gavin Patterson, chief executive of BT’s retail division and group finance director Tony Chanmugam, who last year received bonuses of £162,000 and £103,000 respectively, will share a bonus of about £800,000.
Also on Wednesday, the Communication Workers Union, which represents around 60,000 BT staff, is expected to announce plans to ballot members on industrial action over pay.
