World Athletics Championships 2015: Britons are class system victims, says Greg Rutherford
OIympic champion Greg Rutherford aimed a swipe at UK Athletics after qualifying for the long jump final at the World Championships in Beijing yesterday.
Rutherford, who is aiming to become the fifth Briton to hold world, Olympic, European and Commonwealth titles simultaneously, claimed the governing body has ensured that British athletes are the victims of a class system within the sport.
“Things have not been working very well for me,” said Rutherford, who qualified for today’s final with a leap of 8.25 metres.
“As things come out, we’ll see there are different class systems within the system which I don’t think works well and, for me, is a massive hindrance.
“It’s safe to say there’s a bit more to come out in the coming months.”
