BILL OF THE WEEK
SIX City lawyers made a weekend trip into the Square Mile on 28 May to sample a limited edition tasting menu at High Timber – specially created for the restaurant by recent Masterchef finalist Tom Whittaker. The six-course meal featured several dishes first cooked for the judges, including suckling pig and his innovative “Seahorse and Hedgerow”. But it was the fillet of gurnard with octopus pease pudding that pleased the solicitors most – or more accurately the vintage it was paired with.
So impressed was the group with the 2009 Outlier – a new sauvignon blanc from the Stellenbosch vineyard of co-owners Gary and Kathy Jordan – that between them they snapped up the restaurant’s entire supply of the wine, a twelve-bottle haul that bumped the final bill up to £1,395.
