Benitez ready to offer goal shy Torres a helping hand in attack
CHELSEA manager Rafael Benitez is preparing to deploy winger Victor Moses as an emergency striker to ease the burden on misfiring forward Fernando Torres.
Nigeria international Moses returned triumphant from the Africa Cup of Nations this week and will miss tonight’s Europa League round of 32, first leg game at Sparta Prague.
But Benitez has stated the 22-year-old, who has not played for Chelsea since their FA Cup win at Southampton on 5 January, could be thrown back into the action with Torres having scored just once in his last 12 matches.
“It’s a problem, but we’ll try to keep Fernando fit and hopefully scoring goals,” said Benitez.
“If we have to manage in a different way because we don’t have him we will, but Victor Moses is back and he’s an option to play as a striker.”
