Beckham talks Keane into £3.5m Galaxy transfer
TOTTENHAM manager Harry Redknapp looks set to move for at least one new striker after offloading Robbie Keane to Los Angeles Galaxy for £3.5m.
Keane, 31, completed his switch to the California franchise where he will play alongside former England captain David Beckham.
However it leaves Redknapp a man short in attack, with just three senior forwards at his disposal in Jermain Defoe, Peter Crouch and Roman Pavlyuchenko. Spurs have been linked with Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi, Athletic Bilbao’s Fernando Llorente and Twente’s Costa Rican forward Bryan Ruiz.
Keane said speaking to Beckham helped to make up his mind to join the Major League Soccer outfit.
“I have always wanted to come and play in MLS so it’s a dream come true,” he said. “When David Beckham came and trained at Spurs recently he couldn’t speak highly enough about the Galaxy, their fans and the league.”
