Asda to launch click and collect in tube stations
CUSTOMERS at Asda will be able to collect their weekly shops at London underground stations under plans announced today by the Walmart-owned supermarket chain.
The company said it has struck a deal with Transport for London to open an initial six click and collect hubs at East Finchley, Wealdstone, High Barnet, Highgate, Stanmore, Harrow and Epping.
The deal comes just days after Asda announced a five year plan to reverse its falling market share and grow its online business. Chief executive Andy Clarke wants to increase physical access to the chain from 53 to 70 per cent by 2018.
This will include rolling out its click and collect service, whereby shoppers can collect online grocery orders made before noon on the same day after 4pm, to 1,000 locations.
It is also targeting online sales of £3bn by 2018.
