Any Other Business – 07/05
Some big names from the business world last night joined entrepreneur Duncan Goose, founder of water charity The One Brand, to celebrate almost 10 years since he started the business. Following a reception at No10 with Sam Cam, the crowd moved to Westminster Pier to board a boat where they were treated to a trip down the Thames. Chair of the Co-op Group Ursula Lidbetter and Starbucks’ UK boss Mark Fox were among the crowd, united by their support for the company which sells bottled water and gives all of its profits towards providing safe water for those in need. “We’ve only been involved since January, but we’re delighted to be part of One,” Fox told The Capitalist. The night wasn't without hiccup for Fox, however. “I didn’t realise we were going on the boat for the whole night,” he admitted. “I’m meant to be somewhere else right now!” There was no getting off until 11pm, but it wasn’t such a bad place to be stuck.
IF ALL the transport dramas in the capital over the past week have inspired you to pick up a bicycle, why not see how far your lycras can take you by signing up to do the Prudential RideLondon – a 100 mile cycle from London to Surrey and back again. Children’s wheelchair charity Whizz Kidz has some places left on its ride team and is offering City A.M. readers a lower fundraising pledge of £750 (instead of £1,000). Give them a call now if you want to get involved: 020 7233 9696. Entries close this Friday.
