Ancelotti urges Blues to fix Wigan mistakes
CHELSEA boss Carlo Ancelotti insists his side will bounce back from a shock defeat at Wigan against Apoel Nicosia tonight.
The Blues lost their 100 per cent start to the season in convincing fashion, losing 3-1 to the Latics at the DW Stadium on Saturday.
But Ancelotti says that setback is behind them, and expects his team to show it was a mere blip with a more encouraging showing in the Champions League.
“There is a good pressure,” said Ancelotti. “We have a lot of respect for this team, but we have to put in a good match and return to playing well and have a good direction after the Wigan game.
“We have analysed our mistakes, for sure, but I don’t want to spend a lot of time on this match. It was not a good match. Against Wigan it was not a good day. Tomorrow I want to see a good reaction. Not a reaction: action.
“I want to see Chelsea play like we have in previous league matches and also as we have in the Champions League. We are not worried. We lost one game, but that can happen. We have to fix it for the next game.”
Ancelotti will give summer signing Yuri Zhirkov only his second start if left-back Ashley Cole fails a late fitness test.
The former AC Milan coach is already without injured midfield duo Michael Ballack and John Obi Mikel, while striker Didier Drogba and defender Jose Bosingwa are both still serving suspensions.
