Inflexible traders

As your Q&A on Monday said, the London transport system is going to struggle to cope during the Olympics and most businesses are going to look at ways for employees to work remotely. But City traders are one of those increasingly rare professional groups whose remote working practices are restricted. One of the key reasons for this is the regulation that requires all their voice conversations to be recorded. This technology is automatically implemented on the trading floor, and although it is now possible for traders to trade securely and remotely, this equipment remains unproven compared to the remote working technology used by regular office workers. Hopefully the Olympics will be the catalyst for financial institutions to test the latest technology and extend flexible working even to traders.
