Religare Enterprises
The Indian financial services group has appointed Stuart Pearce, pictured, and Kathryn Matthews as independent board directors.
Pearce has over 35 years of experience in the sector and was previously chief executive and director general of the Qatar Financial Centre Authority. He has also worked as chief executive of UK investment management at HSBC.
Matthews joins from Fidelity, where she was head of global equities and portfolio strategies.
Barclays Capital
Barclays’ star-performing investment banking arm has poached Vanessa Koo from Goldman Sachs and James Lim from BNP Paribas to boost its operations in Asia.
Koo will be responsible for strengthening the M&A business in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, having most recently headed up Goldman’s China M&A advisory business. Lim, who was head of Asia-Pacific real estate in the investment banking division at BNP Paribas, will take up the same role at BarCap.
Bluefin Insurance Services
The Axa-owned insurance broking firm has appointed Keith Burnham and Helen Goodey to its real estate team.
Burnham will head up the division and joins from Aon, while Goodey becomes an executive director and was previously at Zurich.
Begbies Traynor
The restructuring specialist has promoted London-based Kirstie Provan to partner in its insolvency practice.
Provan joined the group in February last year with a wealth of insolvency, private equity and asset-based lending experience, having worked at Landsbanki Commercial Finance.
She has since worked on a number of high-profile corporate insolvency cases, including the administration of Southampton Football Club.
Norton Rose
Mohammed Paracha has rejoined the law firm as a banking partner in Bahrain, where he will be deputy head of Islamic finance.
Paracha joins from Al Salam Bank Bahrain, where he was an executive vice president and head of Europe. He has previously spent three years in Norton Rose’s London banking team before moving to Bahrain.
Atkins
The engineering consultancy has appointed Phil Malem, the former head of Sellafield’s Capenhurst decommissioning facility, to lead the development of its nuclear strategy and positioning in new markets.
Vphase
The Aim-listed energy saving products specialist has appointed Vanda Murray, OBE as its non-executive chairman.
Murray, 49, is also currently a non-executive director of Carillion, SIG and the Manchester Airport Group.
She replaces incumbent Adrian Hutchings, who has decided to step down as chairman with immediate effect.
