The investment bank has hired Paul Bail as a director in its debt advisory team, focusing on expanding its profile in the private equity space.

Bail joins from Barclays, where he was managing director of leveraged finance in the financial sponsors group and a board director of Barclays Financial Investments.

Prior to that, he spent eight years with Bank of America, working on financial structuring, leveraged finance and M&A advisory.

BNY Mellon
The asset management and securities services firm has initiated a shake-up of its global client management team.

Hani Kablawi, currently based in Dubai, takes over as head of client management for the EMEA region, while Tarek Elrefai, currently regional executive for Egypt and North Africa, takes over in Dubai.

Meanwhile, Janet Johnstone – the Dubai-based chief administrative officer for the Middle East and Africa region, has been named senior executive officer of the bank’s branch in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).

The Universities Superannuation Scheme, the UK’s second largest private sector pension fund, has appointed Carmel Peters, Danila Gallarato and Chris Shale to its global emerging markets equities team.

Peters and Shale arrive from RWC Partners, where they were in the Asia Pacific and global emerging markets division. Gallarato was at the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, where she was head of equity opportunities for Europe.

Stevens & Bolton
The law firm has poached a team of three partners and two associates from rival Shadbolts to bolster its employment, commercial litigation and construction practice groups.

Shadbolts managing partner Helen Boddy joins the employment team along with associate Keir Halcomb.

Kate Matthews, who headed the substantial disputes group, joins as a partner along with associate Paula Harris, while Tom Pemberton becomes a partner in the construction and engineering team.

American Century Investments
The asset management firm has appointed Elizabeth Trinh as a vice president in its Hong Kong office, focusing on the Australian and South Asian institutional markets.

Trinh joins from Macquarie Bank in Australia, where she was an associate manager with responsibility for the business development of the Macquarie Professional Series suite of funds.

Marc Bothwell is to join the risk management solutions group to head up product management for its iSophis technology offering.

Bothwell was previously a founding principal at Centre Asset Management and, prior to that, worked at Credit Suisse, Owenoke Capital and Chancellor LGT Asset Management.
