Commuters heaved a collected sigh of misery today as workers on Southern rail kicked off two weeks of strikes.
Such is the chaos on the network, bosses at Southern have implored passengers not to travel. But, seeing as most commuters have jobs to get to, many adopted a Blitz spirit and soldiered on through the chaos - but not before they took to Twitter to complain, bitterly.
Some adopted extreme measures
Others were there to provide encouragement
People now getting polite applause like marathon finishers for making it into the office here #southernstrike— David Vernon (@gravington) December 13, 2016
Some looked on the bright side
Only 11 more strikes until Christmas. #southernstrike— John Cole (@JCEastleigh) December 13, 2016
... while some took a gloomier view
Please mind the gap between the timetable and reality. #southernstrike— Elizabeth Windsor (@Queen_UK) December 13, 2016
So southern got auto-corrected to slytherin when typing earlier about how to get to work today - so THAT's what been going on... @jk_rowling— Natalie Jamieson (@Nat_Jamieson) December 13, 2016
There were those who thought things could be worse
Your life could be worse, you could be Southern Rail's social media person.— Scott Reid (@scottreid1980) December 13, 2016
(sorry if you actually ARE Southern Rail's social media person)
Imagine having to run Southern's Twitter account today.— Andy Kelly (@ultrabrilliant) December 13, 2016
