UK can opt out of EU laws over crime and police
THE UK government has an opportunity to repatriate 130 European Union laws over crime and policing, the think tank Open Europe has claimed.
By June 2014 the coalition must decide whether the EU laws will continue to apply to the UK. “If the government opts out of any one of the existing laws, it has to opt out of the entire lot,” the group said.
Even if it opts out of the laws, the UK government can subsequently choose some of the individual laws to opt back into.
