The property dynasty
JAMIE Ritblat has long emerged from the strong shadow of his property tycoon father John. He became a well-known name in the City in his own right after his successful management buyout of the publicly owned Delancey Real Estate Asset Management firm in 2001.
He has since been behind a string of high profile property deals including snapping up Bovey Castle hotel and golf resort for £26.4m.
He received a leg-up from his father, who was formerly chairman and chief executive of British Land.
Jamie began working for the firm and moved onto the board in 1993. He left two years later to set up his own venture, with the backing of his father. John is renowned as a master businessman who made British Land one of the most successful property firms in the UK.
