Hamilton rues worst season yet
FORMULA ONE: Britain’s Lewis Hamilton rates this season his worst ever as he prepares for this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix. Hamilton, who has won twice but crashed out on two occasions and clashed with stewards, said: “I’m trying to get back to some good results. It feels like it’s been a worse year than I’ve had previously.”
Sandro commits future to Spurs
FOOTBALL: Tottenham have tied promising midfielder Sandro to a new contract that will keep him at White Hart Lane until 2016. The tough-tackling Brazil international, 22, has not played yet this season because of injury.
Carroll lifestyle OKd by Dalglish
FOOTBALL: Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has defended Andy Carroll, after England manager Fabio Capello said the striker ought to “drink less”. Dalglish said: “His fitness would stand up against anybody’s. I don’t think his lifestyle is anything like you want it to be to write a story.” Meanwhile, England’s Euro 2012 qualification rivals Montenegro have sacked coach Zlatko Kranjcar just two group games left.
