Rupert Hume-Kendall lands promotion at Bank of America Merrill Lynch
Rupert Hume-Kendall, one the most prolific dealmakers at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and short-listed for City A.M.’s investment banker of the year award has just been promoted to a new position within the bank, City A.M. has learnt.
He will now be chairman of Global Corporate & Investment Banking for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). “Rupert has played a pivotal role in developing our Global Capital Markets business over the past 15 years”, a note to employees issued today says.
“As one of our most experienced bankers, Rupert will now become responsible for covering some of our most influential clients, in addition to developing essential new senior relationships, across all aspects of Corporate and Investment Banking in EMEA.”
Hume-Kendall has advised this year on the flotation of Ruspetro, a sale of shares in Reckitt Benckiser and has advised 3i on its strategy in the face of dissent from activist shareholders.
Many in the bank feared he might leave the firm earlier this year when deal-maker Andrea Orcel left for UBS. But he has stayed within the firm and has worked on funding deals for Capital Shopping Centres and others.
