TSMC joins Intel in chip funding August 5, 2012 Microchip equipment manufacturer ASML has secured a €1.1bn (£879m) investment from Taiwanese chipmaker TSMC, which has taken a five per cent stake in the Dutch firm. The investment follows a similar deal with TSMC’s rival Intel as ASML attempts to gain funding for a costly new technology to produce cheaper microchips.
