Osborne Clarke UK managing partner named
LAW FIRM Osborne Clarke yesterday named a new UK managing partner at the group.
M&A lawyer Ray Berg, the current head of the firm’s business transactions group, will take over the role from incumbent Simon Beswick, who is leaving the role after 12 years at the helm.
Berg will take up the role from 1 January. “I inherit a firm that’s been exceptionally well run so I can’t wait to get started,” he said.
“I’m going to spend the next few weeks getting out and seeing as many of our clients as possible and listening to their views about how Osborne Clarke can best serve them.”
Berg made partner at the group in 2001 having qualified as a lawyer in 1992.
“He’s a warm and inclusive character, but he balances that with an ability to cut through and deliver his strategy,” senior partner Andrew Saul said.
“It’s a rare combination – but one that means the firm is in great hands for the next few years.”
He became head of the group’s business transaction division in January 2013 and currently manages about 100 lawyers. Beswick is staying with the firm, and taking up the post of chief executive at Osborne Clarke International.
