Modric urges Spurs to finish the job off in grand manner
FC TWENTE vs TOTTENHAM
TOTTENHAM midfielder Luka Modric has urged his teammates to ensure they don’t blow the opportunity to top Champions League Group A with a victory in Holland tonight.
The north Londoners have performed admirably in their debut season in the competition, qualifying with a game to spare from a section which included the holders Inter Milan.
But maximum points against the Dutch champions would ensure Harry Redknapp’s side go through as group winners, potentially ensuring an easier tie in the first knockout round.
Croatia playmaker Modric, who is a fitness doubt with the flu, said: “We just need to carry on, to try and beat Twente because if you finish first in the group, you can have a better draw. We know it’s not easy, but it’s important to try to finish first.”
Manager Redknapp has, meanwhile, hinted that he could hand starts to Jermaine Jenas and striker Robbie Keane.
