McCall bullish over Sarries victory
SARACENS boss Mark McCall is satisfied his side have gained control of Heineken Cup Pool 1 after claiming a second successive victory.
The Sarries director of rugby refused to be downbeat despite missing out on a potential bonus point from Saturday’s 30-13 victory over French outfit Racing Metro 92.
Charlie Hodgson kicked 15 points while his former England captain Steve Borthwick, Chris Wyles and Will Fraser – who eased the nerves late on after Metro had fought back to 23-10 – all touched down.
“You win 30-13 against a side like Racing and you have to be reasonably satisfied,” said McCall.
“The important thing is to gain control of your group and we’ve done that, but now we have the small matter of Munster.”
Meanwhile, in the Amlin Challenge Cup London Welsh claimed their first ever European victory – but were made to work for it by Cavalieri Prato.
And London Irish ran in 11 tries against Mont de Marsan who succumbed to a 69-26 thrashing.
At the Stadio Maurizio Quaggia yesterday, Christian Wade bagged a double as London Wasps overcame Mogliano 59-12
