Mancini to keep Tevez out of Juve game
WANTAWAY Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez returned to the club yesterday, but won’t travel with the rest of the squad ahead of tomorrow’s Europa League dead rubber against Juventus.
The City skipper trained at the club’s Carrington complex having flown back from a pre-approved holiday in Tenerife, where he met up with his teammates for the first time since handing in his shock transfer request last week.
It is understood City manager Roberto Mancini had already taken the decision to rest the Argen-
tina striker for the match in Turin before the story of his desire to leave broke.
Tevez is yet to be stripped of the captaincy, but former City striker Uwe Rosler believes that should be Mancini’s first course of action.
He said: “City supporters idolise Tevez because of the way he is playing and the way he is leading by example on the field.
“But we have seen the other side when he is not living up to his responsibility as club captain off the field.
“He has been making strange comments about his future, about his ambitions in football and lately handing in a transfer request.
“I would take the captaincy away from him, 100 per cent.”
