Cable recruits Sir John Rose for investor probe
FORMER Rolls-Royce chief executive Sir John Rose will join Vince Cable’s inquiry aimed at stopping short-termism among equities investors.
The industrialist held the top job at Rolls-Royce for almost 15 years. Cable is a long-standing admirer of Sir John, calling him a “champion of UK manufacturing” when he stepped down earlier this year. This is understood to be Sir John’s first major role since leaving the engine manufacturer.
The probe, which will be headed up by Professor John Kay, was announced by the business secretary in June.
Two other City figures – James Anderson, partner at Baillie Gifford; and Chris Hitchen, chief executive of the Railways Pension Trustee Company – will also join the inquiry.
Cable said he wants to investigate the way to “best support the long-term interests of British business”.
