BILL OF THE WEEK
NOT EVERYONE in the City could make it to Ascot – but there was consolation for one desk-bound stockbroker when Rewilding beat the favourite in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes on the second day of the festival, landing him an unexpected windfall of £1,400. The broker was given the tip by his friend Thomas Greenall, a former champion amateur jump jockey turned business development director at Green’s Restaurant and Oyster Bar, so the Cornhill restaurant was the obvious place for the broker to celebrate his win with three colleagues. Four bottles of champagne, eight gin and tonics, four brandies and two whiskies later, however, his only change from the Ascot payout was £324.
