BILL OF THE WEEK
OUR BILL this week comes from four diners who sampled the Chino-Latino delights at St Martin’s Lane Hotel’s Asia de Cuba restaurant this week – though you wouldn’t envy them the rum-induced headache the next day.
After warming up with Latino cocktails and starters – including fusion-themed tuna, calamari and duck dishes – they moved on to the main event. One hungry guest indulged in a Lobster Mai Tai – a lobster boniato with a rum and coconut red curry – while Cuban chicken and Surf & Turf also featured. Mexican doughnuts, a rich chocolate cake named Cuban Opera, and a banana split, Asia de Cuba style, topped of the dining.
But the foursome really threw themselves into the event with two glasses of El Dorada, a 25-year old rum, and two of Pyrat Cask 23, not to mention a half bottle of the Hungarian desert wine Royal Tokaji.
The feast was washed down with two bottles of Burgundy, costing £200 between them, and a magnum of Perrier Joet champagne at £295.
