US jobless claims rise by 18,000 to 354,000

US jobless claims have jumped to 354,000 from 333,600 (revised from 334,000). A smaller jump to 340,000 was expected.

So we've got a bad stat, and a bad revision. Extra attention will be given to these numbers, as good data may see the Fed ease off quantitative easing early. So traders could end up reading the bad data as good news.
