Defying expectations, US consumer confidence has risen in June, up from 74.3 (revised from 76.2) to 81.4, a January 2008 high. However economists had anticipated a fall to 75.4 from the unrevised figure.
The consumer confidence data is released by the Conference Board, and captures consumer confidence in economic activity.
