The Telegraph group is to merge the Sunday Telegraph and Daily Telegraph to adopt a seven day paper format. The change will see the group cut 80 print jobs of its 550 strong workforce. Hiring of 50 staff for new digital positions will result in a total staff reduction of five per cent.
Chief executive Murdoch MacLennan sent a letter to staff on Tuesday morning revealing details of the new structure.
He said: "We must move now to complete our transition to a digital business.
