The Whitbread group, owners of hotels and restaurants including has released an interim management statement for the 13 weeks to 30 May (release).
Total sales roles by 13.8 per cent in the period, strengthened by 24.8 per cent growth in Costa Coffee.
During the period, rival Starbucks has come under intense pressure as its tax bill has been scrutinised. Whitbread said that cold weather had benefitted Costa shops.
In London, Premier Inn sales grew by 19.9 per cent as the number of rooms available rose by 20.6 per cent year on year. Premier Inn sales rose by 12.7 per cent in the period.
