Speaking to ITV's Daybreak, chancellor George Osborne has said that planned cuts to be revealed at the Comprehensive Spending Review will total £11.5bn in order to "get the deficit down".

The minister said that seven departments had agreed cuts of up to 10 per cent, with justice, energy and communities departments expected to make significant savings.

The news has been a little bit better in the last few weeks, we saw inflation come down, we saw the economy growing, but I am not remotely complacent we've got to go on in taking the tough and necessary decisions to fix our economy and mend our economy.
