MPs approve Dame Clara Furse to the FPC despite independence concerns

The appointment of Dame Clara Furse to the FPC has been approved, despite her disagreeing with politicians over the Bank of England's powers on bank leverage limits.

However, MPs said that they have "serious concerns" on her independence while also saying that they were satisfied that she has the necessary "professional competence and personal indepence".

Some elements have expressed concerns that her views are too closely aligned with those of chancellor George Osborne.
