IMF says it is committed to financing Greece as ECB assistance drops off

Gerry Rice, a spokesman for the International Monetary Fund (IMF), has said that the eurozone is committed to providing finance for Greece after July 2014, and will hold a board meeting on the Greece programme later on this month.

Meanwhile, the Greek central bank has released its latest financial statement for June, showing that European Central Bank funding of Greek banks amounted to €61.14bn. This is down from €65.39bn at the end of May.

But emergency liquidity assistance to Greek banks from the Bank of Greece itself was up slightly, from €19.93bn in May to €20.86bn in June.
