German unemployment rate drops to 6.8 per cent

New figures show that German unemployment fell by 12,000 on a seasonally adjusted basis to 2.943m in the month of June.

Economists had expected a rise of 8,000, after a jump of 17,000 (revised from 21,000) in the previous month.

The unemployment rate is down, from 6.9 per cent to 6.8 per cent (6.9 per cent expected). However, revisions take last month's unemployment figure down from 6.9 per cent to 6.8 per cent, so it's flat for June.
