Chancellor George Osborne:
I am creating the Employment Allowance - to help create jobs and back small businesses.
It’s a tax off jobs. It will mean that 450,000 small businesses...will pay no jobs tax at all.
Best move of the budget, cutting the tax on jobs. Let's hope for a continued employment boom (supported by continued real wage falls).— Ben Southwood (@bensouthwood1) March 20, 2013
Employment allowance. Up to £2,000 for every business. OK, but yet more complexity. Won't change marginal decisions for most firms I think— Allister Heath (@AllisterHeath) March 20, 2013
NICs rightly called jobs tax. But best plan would be to merge national insurance with income tax. All else is fiddly and opaque— Tom Welsh (@TWWelsh) March 20, 2013
