Low cost airline Flybe has announced the appointment of Saad Hammad, former executive at rivals easyJet and Air Berlin chief as its chief executive.
Hammad was chief commercial officer of easyJet between October 2005 and April 2009 and served as a non-executive director of Air Berlin from May 2011 and October 2012. He is currently managing director at private equity firm Gores Group.
Hammad will replace Jim French, who will stay on as chairman. The move comes after the report of a £40.7m pre-tax loss reported by Flybe last month – blamed on restructuring charges and higher staff and fuel costs.
