EU car sales fall by 5.9 in a year, UK only major market to see registrations rise

New figures from the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association reveal that total EU car registrations fell by 5.9 per cent in the year to May, dropping from a total of 5,443,226 to 5,070,840 (release).

Sales in the UK rose by 11.0 per cent from 868,166 to 948,666, the only major market to see growth.

Across the area, Jaguar Land Rover saw the strongest percentage growth, with group unit sales up by 13.1 per cent. Jaguar units rose by 18.2 per cent, with Land Rover registrations increasing by 11.9 per cent.
