Chancellor George Osborne has chosen to take to Twitter, joining Treasury Ministers Sajid Javid, Greg Clark and Danny Alexander on the social network. In an era when many commentators are reading through pre-released speeches and analysing them before a word is uttered, eyes will be watching Osborne's feed today for any announcements that could trickle out before they pass the chancellor's lips.
As for Osborne's first Tweet:
Today I'll present a Budget that tackles the economy's problems head on helping those who want to work hard & get on twitter.com/George_Osborne…— George Osborne (@George_Osborne) March 20, 2013
Looks like we won't know what tie colour Osborne has gone with until later.
Looks like @george_osborne has picked a great day to get to grips with Twitter— Cathy Adams (@Cathman) March 20, 2013
