Anglo American has released an interim management statement for the six months to 31 March (release). Platinum production fell by two per cent to 538,000 ounces as a result of intermittent strike action which saw production at the affected Rustenburg mines flat. Productivity gains saw phosphate production up by 15 per cent to 284,400 tonnes and Metallurgical Coal up by 23 per cent to 4.6 Mt.

Kumba Iron Ore output increased by two per cent to 10.3 Mt as production rose at Kolomela while copper was higher at 170,400 tonnes, an increase of one per cent, driven by gains at Los Bronces offset by reduced production at Collahuasi due to a planned shutdown.
