Where can you find Britain’s cheapest average high street burger meal? If you answered McDonalds, you’re absolutely wrong.
In fact since 2008 the price of McDonald’s Big Mac, the fast food chain’s most popular burger, has jumped by more than 30%, according to research from stockbroker Shore Capital.
Having remained at £2 for almost a decade, the price of a Big Mac has now hit £2.79, with the total cost of a medium meal reaching £4.49
That pegs McDonalds as more expensive than Wetherspoons (£4.39) and in line with Flaming Grill pubs average offering (£4.49).
And the cheapest burger meal... that award goes to Greene King’s Hungry Horse chain of pubs which offer a bargain-basement £4.29 burger meal.
