Women’s award brings rare good news for RBS

FINALLY some good news for in-the-spotlight bank RBS – Imelda O’Neill, the firm’s head of commercial banking support, was crowned winner of the 2013 Women in the City Future Leaders Award at a celebratory breakfast ceremony at Trinity House in the Square Mile on Friday.

O’Neill was up against Xchanging product manager Alexandra Considine, Axa managing director Karen Hogg and easyJet chief accountant Zarina Sabir in the running for the coveted glass trophy.

“Awards like this are hugely important as they encourage women to strive to reach their career potential and become strong and credible leaders” said O’Neill on Friday.

The Capitalist is always happy to celebrate the success of the City’s female contingent breaking the so-called glass ceiling, although perhaps not in the literal sense, as someone might have told the Greenpeace protestors who managed to scale the Shard last week.
